This month for 'Meet the Agent' we interview Judy Shrubb - President of Roderick DeCouto Real Estate. Judy discusses her most rewarding aspect of real estate sales, her views on the Bermuda property market over the next 12 months and where in the market there is currently good value.
How long have you been a Real Estate agent? Judy Shrubb - Since 1997 (17 years)
Why do you like working for Roderick DeCouto Real Estate? Roderick DeCouto Real Estate Ltd. is a long standing agency started by my father, Roderick DeCouto. As the second generation realtor of Roderick DeCouto Real Estate Ltd. I strive to maintain the high standards, the professionalism and the absolute dedication to the client for which this company has always been known.
What is the favourite part of your job? The most rewarding aspect of real estate sales is being successful in fulfilling a seller’s goal, and for being instrumental in finding the perfect home for a buyer.
What is your favourite property on the market right now? There is never a “favourite” property listing, as each property offers its own unique amenities. There are always positive features with any property listing. Assisting a buyer to recognize amenities offered by a property with that of their own needs and wishes makes for a “favourite” property for the buyer.
What property on the market right now, in your opinion, do you think is really good value? In the current real estate market, there are many properties for sale at excellent value. This is particularly true of multi-unit properties, earning good rental returns.
How do you see the Bermuda property market over the next 12 months? I believe that the real estate market is indicating an increase in consumer interest over what has been low demand of the past few years. With an expectation of increase in sales volume and price point, the next year will show slow but steady growth.
What are your top 3 tips when looking at a potential new home? LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! The location of a property is of utmost importance in ensuring that a property will hold and improve its value. Cosmetic finishes and construction additions can be made on any home or condo, but you cannot physically move the property.
