This month for ‘Meet the Agent’ we interview Kristin Shrubb, Real Estate Agent at Roderick DeCouto Real Estate. Kristin discusses why she enjoys working for the family business, favourite aspects of being a real estate agent and top tips when looking for a potential new home.
How long have you been a real estate agent? My “adventures” in the world of Real Estate began in July of 2013 as an office administrator. I received my certification as a Licensed Real Estate salesperson the following January and I have enjoyed every moment of the past three years in the industry.
Why do you like working for Roderick DeCouto Real Estate Ltd? Being able to carry on a family legacy of realtors has meant so much to me. Continuing the dedication and diligence left behind by my late Grandfather, Roderick DeCouto, and keeping up with my energetic and hardworking Grandmother, Marjorie Marshall and now having the pleasure of being mentored by my Mother, the current president of Roderick DeCouto Real Estate Ltd. have all been factors in my very early career in Real Estate. Being able to represent my family and follow in their footsteps has proven motivating and inspiring.
What is the favorite part of your job? When I used the term “adventures” in Real Estate I truly meant it. The best part of this job and the industry is that every day is completely different from the last. There are always new people to meet and new properties to see and there is rarely a lack of excitement.
What is your favorite property on the market right now? I couldn’t pinpoint just one favorite property “On the Market” specifically. It is more about finding the right property for the right person. The criteria important for one person may not be valuable for another. A property should be a lifestyle choice; a feeling and a comfort that can be wrapped up with the word “home”.
What property on the market right now, in your opinion, do you think is really good value? There seem to be a lot of great opportunities currently for people to get into the market which is encouraging for both first time purchasers, PRC holders and those looking to expand on investment options.
What are your top 3 tips when looking a potential new home? When looking for a new home, or your first home or scanning the market for new opportunities you should focus on what is important to you and what you really want to get out of the property. When searching for your home - lifestyle, location and amenities play a huge role in what sort of property you should be looking for. Foresight is being able to see the future potential in a property and can open the market to expand your options.
