There’s a lot to love about Guernsey. Its dynamic and open environment for businesses means that it offers an excellent standard of living for families – this, combined with its great location, stunning scenery, outstanding schools and vibrant community make it a much sought after place to relocate. In fact, so much so that the States of Guernsey earned over £1.1m from people relocating to the island in 2018.
Locate Guernsey, the States-run agency which is responsible for advising and supporting personal and business relocations, has shown 24 moves last year has proved to be prosperous for the exchequer.
A record £1.148m of benefit was provided to the State in 2018 with just over £800,000 of that coming from document duty from property purchases.
The agency, which is part of the Committee for Economic Development, seeks to promote the Island as a destination of choice to live and do business.
The President of the Committee, Deputy Charles Parkinson has said it is another positive set of results for Locate Guernsey and the island's economy.
“New businesses and individuals arriving on the island are supporting the Open Market, helping to diversify and grow our economy, and enriching our community with knowledge and expertise.” said Deputy Charles Parkinson, President for the Committee for Economic Development.
The Director of Locate Guernsey has said that there has already been a positive rush of enquiries for January which suggests demand is continuing for 2019.
