Exquisite granite home, dating back to the 16th century with plenty of original features. This unique property has been meticulously modernised over the years, whilst still retaining its 'olde-world' charm. Upon entering this one of a kind home, the attention to detail is apparent. The ground floor offers a double height entrance hall with door leading to the utility, hand made bespoke oak Whittinghams kitchen with integrated Miele appliances and AGA, dining room with functional Grandin Jersey Range, living room with functional Jersey Fireplace (with original corbels) and a study. The original 'tourelle' staircase leads up to two large double bedrooms, both with en-suite bathrooms (including a master suite with Fired Earth bathroom with twin-size copper bathtub, and a Whittingham's oak dressing room) and a house bathroom. In addition is an integral one bedroom apartment, this could easily be added back into the main house by using the house bathroom as a corridor, giving you 4 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. There is a large south-facing garden with summer house and swimming pool, two driveways providing parking for 10+ cars, a garage and double carport. There is also the potential, subject to planning, to convert the integral double garage into additional living space in the future. All in all, this is a truly wonderful property with an abundance of character and charm! Is mentioned in Old Jersey Houses Vol 2.
Main conversion from farm building in 1988.
One of 12 tenants of the Fief de L'Abbesse de Caen (Bouley Bay Common). The site of the fief and its associated commons is indicated in the book Jersey Houses II, inside the back cover.
The house is one of 12 old residences in the fiefdom which have associated feudal rights.
These (we believe) include;
- the right to graze livestock on Bouley Bay common
- the right to use the lavoir on the hillside below Bouley Bay common
The use of the land on the common is by permission of the 12 tenants of the fiefdom
This includes the use of the road on Bouley Bay hill for the Hill Climb and the use of the land on which the Trinity Battle of Flowers Association shed is sited.
