'Meet the Agent' - Debbie Moura - Moura & Associates

This month for 'Meet the Agent' we meet Debbie Moura from Moura & Associates. Debbie talks about her favourite rental listing on the market, encouraging clients to consider location to find the perfect property and encouraging signs for the Bermuda property market.

How long have you been a Real Estate agent? 

After 15 years as an interior designer at Creative Interiors, I changed gears in 2003 to help my husband, Albert open up his own Real Estate company; Moura & Associates.   In 2007 I got my Real Estate License which I feel has allowed me to continue to use my creativity but just in new dimension.  

Why do you like working for Moura & Associates?

This industry is about building relationships and maintaining them. We have a very loyal clientele base at Moura & Associates which I’ve seen grow over the years. 

What is the favourite part of your job?

I’m driven by the opportunity to make people happy. It’s very satisfying matching my clients to the ideal property to fit their needs. 

What is your favourite property on the market right now? 

Although there are many executive high end properties on the market that would be a favorite to many (I’m no exception) but I think White Waters wins my vote as it’s priced at 5K but has the nice designer touches that I can appreciate.


What property on the market right now, in your opinion, do you think is really good value? 

As many clients are looking for “central” or “east of round-a-bout” any properties that do not fall within those parameters are priced more competitively and are usually much better value.   I try to encourage my clients to view properties that may be a bit further out than they would normally be willing to go as they can usually tick all the boxes on their wish list including budget.   

How do you see the Bermuda property market over the next 12 months? 

2014 had a strong start and I see this as a trend for the next year.  It’s been exciting working with new companies setting up on the island again.  This is a good sign of future business in all sectors. 

What are your top 3 tips when looking at a potential new home?

a. Be open-minded about location as there are great properties that you may miss out on.

b. Define your wish list but prioritize your top requirements as you may not find exactly what you are looking for.

c. When you narrow down your choices don’t be afraid to drive through their neighbourhoods at different times of the day to get a sense of the location.
