This month for 'Meet the Agent' we interview Ambika Scott, Broker/Owner, of new real estate agency Moongate Realty. Ambika discusses her favourite aspects of being a real estate agent on the island, favourite listings on the market and also shares some complimentary thoughts on propertyskipper - thank you Ambika !
How long have you been a real estate agent? I became a real estate agent in 2010.
Why do you like working for Moongate Realty? I opened Moongate Realty in September 2014. I enjoy working for myself as it allows me to provide the level of service to my clients and prospects that I feel they would benefit from. It also provides me with more flexibility to meet my clients’ needs.
What is the favorite part of your job? There are so many different aspects of my job that I am passionate about – closing deals on behalf of clients, assisting prospects with finding the perfect place to having the opportunity to be up close and personal with Bermuda’s lovely housing inventory. However, ensuring that my clients’ needs have been met whether it’s from a sales, rental, or property management standpoint is my favorite part of the job as that is when I know I have provided the level of service they deserve and require.
What is your favorite property on the market right now? My favorite property is the 3 bed/2.5 Bath with an apartment that I have for sale in Hamilton Parish. Refurbished and pleasing to the eye, this family home is a lovely property with all the bells and whistles.
What property on the market right now, in your opinion, do you think is really good value? The sales listing that I have on 20 Mount View Road (3 apartment dwelling fixer upper for $590,000) is great value for money. It would be an ideal family home or investment property with the right vision.

How do you see the Bermuda property market over the next 12 months? When I became a Sales Agent, the market had plummeted. However, there have been improvements within the last few years and I anticipate that the market will continue to flourish. With America’s Cup on the horizon, I believe that it will further improve the market within the next year or two.
What are your top 3 tips when looking for a potential new home? If you require financing, pre-approval is the first step. Determining the true cost of purchasing the home is also important as it will ensure you stay within your desired price bracket. Schedule a home inspection. It is advantageous to purchase a home with full knowledge of its condition.
What do you think of propertyskipper.com (we promise not to edit!)? I think Propertyskipper is a great resource for landlords, prospects and agents island wide. It’s a one stop shop with an easily navigable site and very informative. In the short time my company listings have been on Propertyskipper, I’ve received impressive feedback. Propertyskipper came out with a bang and have been keeping us going ever since.
