'Meet the Agent' - Christina Georgopoulos from Rego Sotheby's International Realty
This month for 'Meet the Agent' we interview Christina Georgopoulos, a real estate agent at Rego Sotheby's International Realty. Christina discusses her transition into a full time sales agent and why she enjoys working at Rego Sotheby's International Realty, where Christina sees the market heading in 2021 and some top tips for buyers and sellers in the current market.
How long have you been in the business? I actually worked in the Rego Sotheby’s International Realty head office for a year and a half as the Agency Administrator before transitioning to a full-time sales agent. This experience provided me with working knowledge of the legal process behind sales including the ins and outs of a sale from Offer and Acceptance to Closing. I got to work with some amazing real estate attorneys and have developed great relationships with many of them. This has definitely given me an edge when it comes to guiding my clients through the sales process from start to finish and understanding all of the challenges and conditions to work through.
Why do you like working for Rego Sotheby’s International Realty and what’s the favourite part of your job? Rego Sotheby’s International Realty is an amazing full-service company to work for. From the agents to the administration staff, all are very supportive and helpful. Everyone in the office is easily approachable from our marketing person to the partners where one-on-one meetings are encouraged in order to discuss different strategies to generate business. This is the type of job where you get out what you put into it!
Where are you seeing activity in the market at the moment? All price points in sales and rentals. We have been very busy with international visitors looking to live in Bermuda as a Digital Nomad for the 1-year residency, with some of them actively looking to purchase with us as well. Given that it is the Holiday Season, Ben and I have some new sales and rental listings that we are prepping for launch in early 2021.
What is your favorite property on the market right now? Majestic Waters on South Shore, which has an incredible value for the size of the house in such an exclusive neighborhood with private beach access! CLICK HERE TO VIEW
What property on the market right now, in your opinion, do you think is really good value? Tenby in Devonshire has incredible value. It is a 2-unit property that is exceptionally well-maintained and provides a great rental return. The neighbourhood is very private in a quiet cul-de-sac and is just 2 minutes to the City of Hamilton. CLICK HERE TO VIEW
How do you see the Bermuda property market in 2021? 2020 was the best performing real estate market in many years, with many agents experiencing record numbers. The uncertainties over COVID-19 did not slow the momentum and buyer confidence is at an all-time high. If this is any indication on what 2021 might be, then I think the industry and home sellers have a very exciting year of 2021 to look forward to.
What are your top 3 tips for purchasers when looking for a potential new home?
- Speak to and stick to an agent who works the industry 24/7 to best achieve your real estate goals. When an agent knows what you are looking for, we can make the process as easy as possible by surveying the market for all on and off-market opportunities that might be a good fit and can take you to any property no matter who it is listed with.
- Get pre-approved by the bank so that you know exactly what sort of price point you would be supported by a purchase for. This helps to narrow our focus on what to show you and allows you to be more competitive when placing an offer when all of your ducks are already in a row with financing.
- Have a priority list of what are your ‘must-haves’ when looking to purchase. It is key to be realistic and know that in what is a smaller market, you might not be able to satisfy all of those wishes. Changes and improvements can always be made in the future.
Finally – do you have any good tips for sellers when preparing their home for sale? Stage your home and de-clutter. We can always provide suggestions on how it is best to do that and are happy to meet well in advance of launching a listing so that what we present is your home at its best. Make sure that you get your boundaries staked in advance, as this can sometimes delay matters in a sales transaction.
