'Meet the Agent' - Karen Brine, Coldwell Banker Bermuda Realty

This month for 'Meet the Agent' we interview Karen Brine who works as a Sales Representative and Vacation Consultant at Coldwell Banker Bermuda Realty. Karen has worked in the industry for over 30 years and discusses why she enjoys working for Coldwell Banker Bermuda Realty, top tips for vendors when they are getting ready to put their home on the market and what property on the market right now Karen thinks is really good value.

How long have you been a real estate agent? I was first introduced to Real Estate when I joined Collier Real Estate in 1985 and assisted with Vacation Rentals. I joined Jones Waddington Ltd. in 1989 as Rental Agent and moved over to Sales in later years. In 1999 Jones Waddington Ltd. and Bermuda Realty Company Limited merged and later became Coldwell Banker Bermuda Realty.

Why do you like working for Coldwell Banker Bermuda Realty Forty-three colleagues who make every day a unique experience and many of whom after 28 years are like family. Bermuda Realty offers many services in-house and we can also provide a service to those who are looking to purchase abroad or have properties in Bermuda but live abroad.

What is the favorite part of your job? I think when you are passionate about something you do not see it as job, however take the view how can I today make a Vendor or Purchasers task easier, comforting and rewarding.

What is your favorite property on the market right now? You can appreciate we view many homes and at present hard to name just one as they all offer something unique.

What property on the market right now, in your opinion, do you think is really good value? Good value can be defined in many ways depending on who is looking at property. My listing on Arrowroot Lane has great value for a family home with income, pool and situated on 0.86 acres.

How do you see the Bermuda property market over the next 12 months? The market is ever changing, however, I feel blessed that 2017 has been a good year for me.  Bermuda has endured ups and downs in the market for years and I think we are now seeing areas stabilizing and good activity for both Vendors and Purchasers.

What are your top 3 tips to vendors when listing a property for sale? When listing a property for sale, it always good to sit with your Vendor and share some suggestions or thought provoking ideas.

1) Curb appeal – manicured garden, colorful flowers in planters.

2) Be polite and ask that the house be in showable condition.

3) Have your Vendor write a paragraph on why they purchased the property that you can share with Purchasers.

What do you think of propertyskipper.com (we promise not to edit!)? Huge thanks to Peter and his staff for creating another fantastic avenue for Vendors/Customers to reach us. When the idea was first introduced for Bermuda to be a part of Propertyskipper, I was not sure of its “shelf life” – I am happy it has been successful and used by many and provides another source of marketing. We look forward to expanding our market share with the assistance of Propertyskipper. (Ed. - Many thanks Karen)
