'Meet the Agent' - Michael DeSousa, Kitson Real Estate
This month for ‘Meet the Agent’ we interview Michael DeSousa, Sales Agent at Kitson Real Estate. Michael discusses why he enjoys working for Kitson’s, favourite and good value listings on the market at the moment and also some sound advice to have your finances in order before starting your property search.
How long have you been a real estate agent? I qualified for my license in 2001 and joined Kitson’s later that year, selling primarily residential and some commercial properties.
Why do you like working for Kitson Real Estate? I love working at Kitson’s, we have a dynamic cross section of people all working together as a team. The goal at Kitson Real Estate meets mine perfectly and that is to give our clients unparalleled service and attention, whether it’s the Seller or the Buyer. Kitson’s is one of the oldest real estate firms on the island, and has reaffirmed its commitment to the industry with brand new offices at street level in the heart of Hamilton, in Windsor Place, Queen Street.
What is the favourite part of your job? My absolute favourite part of the job is when I can bring together that ideal buyer for someone’s most precious possession, their home and know that it will be lovingly cared for. Likewise, it’s helping a buyer find their dream home.
What is your favourite property on the market right now? A great condo in a small boutique development “The Cedars” off Burnt House Hill in Warwick. Very spacious and comfy.
What property on the market right now, in your opinion, do you think is really good value? There is a commercial property on Burnaby Street that really is good value. CapCar Building has three tenants with very good leases. The combination of the three leases yields a very good return on one’s investment.
How do you see the Bermuda property market over the next 12 months? Over the past 24 months we have definitely seeing some steady growth in the market and I see no reason for that not to continue over the next 12 months.
What are your top tips when looking a potential new home Number one tip all agents give is have your financing sorted, get pre-approved with your bank. This way you will know what price range to look for in a property and you can move quickly when you find that perfect house or condo and reduce the risk of someone beating you to the purchase. Secondly, “think with your head and not your heart”. Make sure it’s the right location for your family and lifestyle. Should we buy a condo or a house? Does it have potential for expansion? All things to consider.
What do you think of propertyskipper.com (we promise not to edit!)? When I first learned about “propertyskipper.com”, I knew immediately this would be an excellent tool for property seekers, be it to buy or to rent. Now with just about every agency listing their property on propertyskipper.com, it has become a powerful tool for both the home seeker as well as an excellent tool for the realtors to market their listings.
