This month for 'Meet the Agent' we interview Randy Elgersma who recently joined Coldwell Banker Bermuda Realty. Randy discusses what he enjoys about his new role, where he is seeing activity in the local property market at the moment and also Randy provides some top tips for buyers and sellers in the current market.How long have you been in the business? Technically, since December of last year. But, I have been studying and watching the real estate market for years, so I have a vast knowledge of properties that have sold and are currently listed.
Why do you like working for Coldwell Banker Bermuda Realty and what’s the favorite part of your job? Coldwell Banker Bermuda Realty has been a great place to learn and grow. Everyone there has been very supportive and especially Fiona Hatfield who has been mentoring me to ensure I have a great start. Being entrusted to work with people to find the property that best suits them is a big responsibility and one that I find very rewarding.
Where are you seeing activity in the market at the moment? At the moment sales between $600,000 - $1,250,000 are going very well. If you have a property that you think is in that range and have been thinking of selling, I would be happy to have a chat with you about it.
What is your favorite property on the market right now? 2, Tea Rose Lane. It is a ½ acre vacant lot in a fantastic location just off Tee Street. How do you see the Bermuda property market over the next 12 months? I see the market continuing as it has for the past couple years. Sales have been steady and I would advise anyone who is thinking of selling that now is a great time to do so!
What are your top 3 tips for purchasers when looking for a potential new home?
- Get preapproved for a mortgage or arrange proof of funds. This will allow you to make a seamless offer when you do find the home that you love.
- Have in-depth conversations with your significant other or advisors to decide what are your “must have’s” and what you would be willing to negotiate. Having this list will allow you to have great conversations with your real estate agent to narrow down the best options, which brings us to.
- Develop a great relationship with an agent you trust.
Finally – do you have any good tips for sellers when preparing their home for sale? Be sure to clean and refresh your property. First impressions are key to catch the eye of a potential buyer. From photos that are posted, right up to first walking through the door, you want a buyer to feel like this house is just right for them.
